New Rs. 20 Coin. But won't be round in shape

Finance Ministry has announced to roll out Rs.20 coin for the first time in the country. The new coin will not be circular in shape like the other existing coins in the market. It will look like a ' dodecagon ', a 12-edge polygon. Like the Rs.10 coin which is in the circulation now, the Rs.20 coin will be two toned with a diameter of 27mm weighing 8.54 grams, heavier than all the existing coins in the market The outer ring of new Rs.20 coin will be 65% copper, 15% zinc and 20% nickel. The centre piece will be 75% copper, 20% zinc and 05% nickel. However, the exact date of the circulation of the new coin was not mentioned in the gazette. Source: Livemint
